The purpose of this invited competition was the design of the new head office of a Spanish bank in the city of Badajoz, in the province of Extremadura, with the aim of providing a new lease of life to this disadvantaged neighbourhood at the main entrance to the city. The scheme unites the bank’s corporate functions with the public spaces used by the local community. The architectural design involved the implantation of a section of the dehesa, a regional forest ecosystem characterized by herbaceous plants and sparse woodland, on an inclined extension designed to offer shade to the public spaces used by the community. From this extension rises the corporate tower, like a beacon at the entrance of the city.

Awarded first prize in the competition, the building is currently under construction.
