La Casa involved the transformation of an abandoned single-storey house into a bright and spacious contemporary residence. The architectural component involved the juxtaposition of authentic historical features with new spaces of contemporary design. The century-old wooden structure, the original joists and ceiling elements form the front section of the house, while the two-floor extension at the rear is generously fenestrated, opening out into the courtyard.
Spatially, the contrast and complementarity of these two volumes are consolidated by the presence of a small “green block” accommodating the utility rooms, constituting the only touch of vivid colour on the ground floor.
